What is the aim of the help! 2?

The help! 2 seminars aim to provide parents and full-time carers with information and advice, to support them in the care of their child with an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). The parent seminars will cover a range of topics including an introduction on how to write social stories, Making and using Visual Supports, Supporting the siblings of children with ASD, Managing Anger in Adolescents with Aspergers Syndrome, dealing with bullying and supporting your child with toileting difficulties.

About the seminars

The seminars will include presentations, group discussions, video material and practical activities. A help! 2 parent manual, including handouts, information booklets and leaflets is included in each seminar.

Please note that the seminars DO NOT include and introduction to autistic spectrum disorders within their content thefore, it is recommended parent / carers attending seminars already have some prior knowledge.

What does it cost?

The seminars are delivered free to parent/carers through the support of the Big Lottery Fund.

Who can attend the seminars?

Up to 15 families can attend each seminar, with 2 places per family.  The seminars are open to parents and carers of school age children, young people or adults, who have received a diagnosis of an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) according to the criteria for each individual seminar please contact the National Autistic Society.
