Carers's Allowance
Carers's allowance is a taxable benefit to help people who look after someone who is disabled. You do not have to be related to, or live with, the person that you care for. You may be able to get Carer's Allowance if you are aged 16 or over and spend at least 35 hours a week caring for a person who gets either Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance at the middle or highest rate for personal care, Constant Attendance Allowance at or above the normal maximun rate with an Injuries Disablement Benefit or Constant Attendance Allowance at the basic (full day) rate with a War Disablement Pension.

Disabled Living Foundation (DLF)
The Disabled Living Foundation (DLF)is a national charity that provides free, impartial advice about all types of daily living equipment for adults with disabilities and disabled children, older people, their carers and families. From stairlifts to walk-in baths, toys to children's equipment, jar openers to tap turners, bath seats to walking sticks, riser recliner chairs to wheelchairs and scooters, hoists to beds, telecare to alarms, the DLF can help you find independent living solutions that enable you to stay active and improve your quality of life.
Down's Syndrome Association
We are the only organisation in this country focusing solely on all aspects of living successfully with Down's syndrome. Since 1970, we have grown from being a local parent support group to a national charity with over 20,000 members, a national office in Teddington Middlesex, offices in Northern Ireland and Wales. Despite this, the organisation is run by a total staff of only 38 (many of them part time), and a network of around 100 regional volunteer-led support groups.

Northumberland Parent Partnership Service
Northumberland Parent Partnership Service is a free and confidential service which provides impartial information, advice and support to parents and carers of children with special educational needs. The service has a team of trained volunteers called Independent Parental Supporters who work directly with parents. Voluntary organisations and parent support groups can also offer advice and support.
Northumberland Toy Library
Welcome to the Northumberland Toy Library website. We are based in the centre of Ashington in South East Northumberland and cater for all children and families within Northumberland. At the Toy Library you can loan toys, games and outdoor play equipment for a small hire charge. We are open from 10.00 am-5.00 pm weekdays and from 10.00 am - 12.00 noon on a Saturday.

Together for Disabled Children is a partnership between Serco and Contact a Family. The partnership provides a comprehensive range of skills, sector knowledge and experience of delivering national programmes. In particular, Contact a Family has been, for many years, at the forefront of work to improve the participation of parents of disabled children in the development and delivery of responsive services.

Useful Vision is a registered charity established in the North East to help blind and visually impaired children get the most out of life.
