Information & Activities

Information for parents is one of the most valuable services offered to parents of children with additonal needs.  It is essential that parents have quality of access to meet their information needs.  Telephone support for families and carers is an essential life line, if you require any information please contact IN-PACT on 01670 857816 or email us at In-Pact@actionforchildren.org.uk

Children's Centres

All Children's Centres work in partnership with the local community to improve the health and wellbeing of young children and their families in the area. They offer a multi-agency service providing integrated early learning and childcare, family support, community development, and child and family health services. Ashington Children's Centre has a dedicated sensory room that is available for use by both parents and professionals by appointment. Families can access this at their convenience and use of the room is not restricted to residential area boundaries. In each centre there is portable sensory equipment which is available for hire. Their Language Development Worker works with children and families pending a diagnosis, via referrals from health visitors and speech and language therapists. Centre staff work closely with specialist services that link families to the centres, such as the Portage Service, the Speech and Language Therapy Department and the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). Nursery and after school provision is available through RASCALS at Ashington Children's Centre and welcomes children with additional needs.
